An assessment from different angles of women and the realities of their everyday lives, designed to provide unfamiliar insights. The aim is not simply to reveal and highlight the woman’s standpoint but also to illustrate and examine inner workings and inter-relationships. The different positions assumed by the artists in view of their backgrounds and identities show us the world we are accustomed to in a different light. By seeing this vast variety as if through a kaleidoscope we are given a sudden insight into reality as it is for women in the contrasting societies of today.
The original concept drawn up by Greta J. ZnojemSKY had an emancipatory objective, directed from the standpoint of the woman, in particular the woman as artist. Each of the artists taking part has drawn for the project on his or her own story. The cultural differences involved emerge clearly.
“woman” is a series of exhibitions staged at different venues at irregular intervals. Artists of both sexes are invited to present their work, which in each case reflects his or her own understanding of women as dictated by personal experience.
